Indian pilot, Wing Commander AbhiNaandan Vartman, is in the custody of Pakistan Army after being ARRESTED on Tuesday.— Inter-Services Public Relations. His status as a prisoner of war (PoW) under international law is being debated upon, along with whether, and if, as a PoW, he is being afforded adequate protections by Pakistan. The Geneva Conventions, to which both Pakistan and India are signatories, apply in all cases of armed conflict which may arise between two or more High Contracting Parties (states are High Contracting Parties). The fact that India and Pakistan have not openly declared war against one another does  not  negate the application of the Conventions. Pakistan's armed forces on high alert,ready for eventuality. The military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), issued a situation update on Thursday to notify that it is "Pakistan Army soldiers are at high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) with all required safeguards along Eastern Border in the place to the  any India aggression". Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy are also fully alert, the Inter-Services Public Relations conveyed in its statement. "During the last 48 hours, Indian troops have resorted to increased ceasefire violations in Kotli, Khuiratta and Tatta Panii Sectors along Line of Control. Pakistan Army soldiers responding affectively," the statement added. "Reports of casualties to Indian forces and damage to Indian posts. Indian deliberate firing on civilians have resulted in shaheed of four citizens and two citizens injured."
